Terms of Use

These terms cover this website. They are written to be read, not to be impressive.

Using the site

You may read, print, link to and quote these pages. Please do not misrepresent what we have said, and please do not attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the site.

Our documents

The governing documents published here — the articles of incorporation, the bylaws and our adopted policies — are the real texts, with the names of individuals and street addresses removed. We note that clearly on each one. Complete signed copies are held by the Corporation and are available to anyone with a proper purpose under KRS Chapter 273.

Where a published copy and the signed original ever differ, the signed original is the one that governs.

Course materials and code

Our bylaws commit us to keeping core educational materials — publications, courses and example infrastructure code — freely and publicly available. In practice that means articles and tutorials are published under CC BY-NC 4.0, with an additional permission that lets organizations train their own employees and contractors with them, and code under the Apache License 2.0. Commercial use of the articles beyond those permissions needs our written permission. Our licensing page explains all of it in plain English.

Where an individual work states its own license terms, those terms govern that work.

Name and logo

“Automate the Cloud” and the cloud mark belong to Automate the Cloud Inc. You may use them to refer to us accurately. Please do not use them in a way that suggests we endorse, sponsor or are affiliated with something we are not.

The typefaces used on this site are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 and are not ours.

Accuracy

We try to keep this site correct and current, and we correct mistakes when we find them. Even so, the site is provided as is, without warranty. Technical guidance published here is general information, not advice about your specific systems, and nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice.

Links out

Where we link to someone else’s site, we do not control it and are not responsible for it.
